The Secret Ingredient In Our Lavender Chill Hand Soap & Other Recipes

We make all of our own personal care products at the motel. We make a hand soap that feels so amazing because it has xanthan gum in it. Xanthan Gum is a common product in gluten-free cooking but you can also use it in place of Guar Gum, which is usually used in beauty products. Xanthan gum happens to feel amazing when mixed with water, soap and a little scent.

People with curly or dry hair have been so excited about our deep conditioner. It will make your hair feel amazing! So moisturizing!

If you don't have drier hair you can just use our shampoo as your shampoo, conditioner and body wash!

We also make our own laundry soap. All of our recipes are pretty customized except our laundry soap recipe. We got it from Wellness Mama. We really like this one because it a liquid laundry detergent, it works and it's so inexpensive. We save so much at the motel and we are using safer ingredients than you can buy in the stores.

Hand soap
1 c. Distilled Water
½ c. Castile Soap (Dr. Bronners)
2 Tbs Liquid Coconut Oil or other oil

Mix all ingredients in a container except the xanthan gum.

Add one tsp of xanthan gum per cup of soap mixture to a food processor or standup electric mixer. Add 10 drops lavender oil per batch. Put in large container and let sit overnight so that the suds can deflate. Then fill hand pump bottles.

Moisturizing Shampoo and Body Wash
1 c Distilled Water
½ c Castile Soap (Dr. Bronners)
2 tsp Avocado Oil (or coconut oil)
1/2 tsp Rose or Orange Essential Oil
2 tsp Glycerin

Put the above ingredients in a bottle. We like to use condiment bottles from restaurant stores for our shampoos. Shake well before each use.

Deep Conditioner
1 tsp of grapeseed oil
2 tsp Vegetable Glycerin
1 Tbs  Emulsifying Wax
1/2 tsp Vitamin E (or 2 capsules)
1/2 cup distilled Water or Herbal Infusion
5 drops Grapefruit Seed Extract
15 drops Rosemary Essential Oil

Stir together the oil, emulsifying wax and glycerin on low in a pan, warming slowly until the wax is melted. Remove from heat and pour in the Vitamin E. Put one cup in a food processor. Put in condiment bottle.
